About the Role
Our client, a prestigious golf club, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the meticulous maintenance and agronomic management of its championship course. This pivotal role demands a deep understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and budget management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a passion for golf course excellence, and a proven track record in course maintenance. You will be responsible for leading a team of groundskeepers, implementing sustainable practices, and ensuring the course is maintained to the highest standards for member and guest play.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass management, including mowing, fertilization, aeration, and pest/disease control programs. Oversee the daily operations of the golf course maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management. Manage the irrigation system, ensuring efficient water usage and optimal playing conditions. Monitor course conditions daily, making adjustments to maintenance practices as needed based on weather, play, and turf health. Develop and manage the annual golf course maintenance budget, controlling expenditures for labor, equipment, and supplies. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable course management practices. Operate and maintain a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. Work closely with the golf professional staff and club management to meet the needs of the membership and prepare for tournaments. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, applications, and course conditions. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in turfgrass science, equipment technology, and best management practices. Foster a safe and productive work environment for the maintenance team.
Qualifications:
Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field is highly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role. GCSAA Class A or Associate membership is desirable. Thorough knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and irrigation technology. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong understanding of golf course operations and agronomic planning. Proficiency in budget management and financial planning. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to operate and maintain various types of grounds maintenance equipment. Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Valid Driver's License.
