About the Role
Our client, a prestigious private golf club, is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the year-round maintenance and development of their immaculate course located in Miami, Florida, US . This hands-on leadership role requires a deep understanding of turfgrass management, agronomy, and water conservation, coupled with strong team management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of course conditioning, promoting sustainable practices, and managing all aspects of course maintenance operations to provide an exceptional playing experience for members.
Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for all turf areas, including greens, fairways, roughs, and tee boxes. Manage daily course operations, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, and bunker maintenance. Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of groundskeepers and assistant superintendents. Oversee the effective and efficient use of irrigation systems, water resources, and drainage. Develop and manage the annual operating budget for course maintenance, including labor, equipment, and supplies. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable golf course management practices. Operate and maintain a diverse fleet of golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring proper calibration and repair. Work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management to meet member expectations and support club events. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and budget expenditures. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to minimize chemical use. Plan and oversee capital improvement projects related to course infrastructure and renovation. Foster a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all safety protocols. Qualifications: Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Golf Course Superintendent. Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., GCSAA) is highly desirable. Proven expertise in turfgrass physiology, soil science, pest/disease management, and irrigation systems. Strong leadership, team-building, and motivational skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in budget management and financial planning. Knowledge of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices in golf course management. Ability to operate heavy machinery and maintenance equipment safely. Understanding of golf course architecture and playing conditions. Flexibility to work varying hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
