Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, and bunker maintenance. Develop and execute a comprehensive agronomic plan to ensure optimal turf health and playability throughout the season. Manage, train, and supervise a team of groundskeepers and equipment operators, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Manage the maintenance budget, including labor, equipment, and materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency. Operate and maintain a fleet of golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring proper calibration and repair. Implement and manage irrigation systems, optimizing water usage and turf health. Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance practices accordingly to protect turf from environmental stresses. Stay current with the latest advancements in turfgrass science, technology, and sustainable maintenance practices. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including fertilization, pesticide applications, and irrigation. Collaborate with golf professionals and club management to ensure the course meets the expectations of members and guests. Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or 3 years as a Superintendent at a reputable golf course. In-depth knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, plant physiology, and pest/disease management. Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course maintenance equipment. Experience with irrigation systems (e.g., Toro, Rain Bird) and water management techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills. Ability to develop and manage departmental budgets effectively. Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and best management practices. Valid driver's license and a strong commitment to safety. GCSAA certification or eligibility is highly preferred.
