About the Role
Our client, a premier golf and country club, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to manage the maintenance and presentation of their championship golf course located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona . This onsite role is responsible for all aspects of turfgrass management, agronomic practices, irrigation systems, and landscaping to ensure the highest standards of course conditioning and playability. The Senior Superintendent will lead and mentor a team of groundskeepers, equipment operators, and assistants, overseeing daily operations, staff scheduling, and performance management. You will be responsible for developing and implementing agronomic plans, managing the course budget, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining all golf course equipment. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of turfgrass science, pest and disease management, irrigation technology, and modern golf course maintenance practices. Proven leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a strong commitment to excellence are essential. You should be adept at strategic planning, resource management, and problem-solving to address the unique challenges of maintaining a golf course in an arid climate. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic programs. Develop and implement detailed annual and long-term agronomic plans. Manage turfgrass health, including disease, pest, and weed control. Supervise and train a team of golf course maintenance staff. Manage the golf course irrigation system to optimize water usage and turf health. Maintain and repair all golf course equipment and machinery. Develop and manage the annual golf course maintenance budget. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Monitor course conditions daily to ensure optimal playability and presentation. Collaborate with club management and golf professionals to meet member expectations. Qualifications: Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent at a reputable golf facility. GCSAA Class A certification preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of turfgrass science, agronomy, and irrigation management. Experience managing budgets and staff effectively. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of golf course equipment operation and maintenance.
