Our client, a prestigious golf and country club located in beautiful Los Angeles, California , is searching for an accomplished Senior Golf Course Superintendent. This executive-level position is critical to maintaining the world-class condition of our golf course, ensuring an exceptional playing experience for our discerning members and guests. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of golf course agronomy, turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest control, and course maintenance operations. Key Responsibilities Oversee all agronomic practices, including fertilization, pest and disease management, irrigation, and cultural practices to ensure optimal turf health and playability. Manage the development and execution of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets for the golf course maintenance department. Supervise, train, and mentor a team of assistant superintendents, mechanics, and seasonal staff, fostering a culture of safety and performance. Implement and manage sustainable and environmentally sound turfgrass management programs. Operate and maintain all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring proper calibration and upkeep. Plan and schedule daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities in coordination with golf operations and management. Monitor weather patterns and adjust maintenance strategies accordingly to protect turf and ensure course availability. Maintain accurate records of all chemical applications, irrigation, and labor expenditures. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management to ensure course conditions meet member expectations and tournament standards. Requirements Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field is required. Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., GCSAA) is highly desirable. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 4 years in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role at a high-caliber facility. Extensive knowledge of cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species, soil science, pest and disease control, and irrigation technology. Proven experience in budget management and financial forecasting. Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and implement new technologies. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and specialized agronomic software. Valid driver's license and ability to operate golf course maintenance equipment. Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
