About the Role
Our client, a prestigious golf club, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of its world-class facility in San Francisco, California, US . This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and budget management. The Senior Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of groundskeepers, ensuring the highest standards of course conditioning are met year-round. Key duties include developing and implementing comprehensive agronomic plans, managing all aspects of course maintenance including mowing, fertilization, and aeration, and overseeing the repair and upkeep of all groundskeeping equipment. You will also be responsible for environmental stewardship, ensuring sustainable practices are employed in all course operations, and maintaining compliance with all local and state environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership qualities, strong communication skills, and a passion for golf course management. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement. A significant portion of the role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. Qualifications:
Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. GCSAA Class A certification is highly desirable. Proven expertise in turfgrass science, irrigation management, and pest/disease control. Experience managing budgets and staff effectively. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Proficiency with golf course maintenance equipment and technology. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices. Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
