About the Role Our client, a prestigious golf club known for its immaculate grounds, is seeking an experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent to manage the overall health, maintenance, and playability of their championship course. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin , this role demands a deep understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and sustainable environmental practices. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, watering, fertilizing, pest and disease control, and course shaping. Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans to ensure optimal turfgrass health and playability. Manage and maintain all irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage and timely repairs. Supervise, train, and schedule a team of groundskeepers, mechanics, and assistants. Manage the golf course maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable course management practices. Operate and maintain all golf course maintenance equipment, including scheduling repairs and replacements. Collaborate with golf professionals and club management to address course conditions and player feedback. Plan and execute course renovation and improvement projects as directed by the club. Maintain a safe working environment for all grounds staff, adhering to safety protocols and equipment training. Requirements Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent on a reputable golf course. GCSAA certification (or eligibility to obtain) is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and irrigation technology. Proven leadership and team management skills. Experience with budget management and financial planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with irrigation control systems. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
