About the Role Our client, a prestigious golf club located in **Madison, Wisconsin**, is actively searching for an experienced and dedicated Lead Golf Course Superintendent. This senior leadership position is responsible for the meticulous planning, execution, and management of all turfgrass maintenance operations and groundskeeping activities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of agronomy, a proven track record in managing large-scale groundskeeping projects, and exceptional leadership capabilities to guide a team of groundskeepers. You will play a critical role in ensuring the course remains in pristine condition, meeting the highest standards of playability and aesthetic appeal for our distinguished members and guests. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage all aspects of turfgrass maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and disease management. Develop and implement annual and long-term agronomic plans to ensure optimal playing conditions throughout the season. Manage and maintain all golf course equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition and operated safely. Supervise, train, and motivate a team of golf course maintenance staff, fostering a culture of excellence and safety. Monitor weather patterns and adjust maintenance practices accordingly to protect the course. Manage the department budget effectively, controlling costs without compromising quality. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable course management practices. Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management to coordinate course operations and member events. Oversee capital improvement projects related to the golf course. Requirements Degree or Diploma in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. GCSAA Class A certification is strongly preferred. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass science, soil science, and integrated pest management (IPM). Proven experience in managing irrigation systems and water conservation techniques. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and equipment maintenance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, in **Madison, Wisconsin**. A passion for golf and maintaining championship-level playing conditions.
