About the Role
A prestigious golf club renowned for its immaculate grounds and challenging course is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and development of its world-class facilities. This is a hands-on role requiring extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and equipment maintenance. You will lead a team of groundskeepers, providing training, supervision, and performance evaluations to ensure the highest standards are met. Responsibilities include developing and implementing the annual agronomic plan, managing the budget effectively, and ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for golf and a deep understanding of the game's needs. You will work closely with the golf professional and club management to ensure the course is always in pristine condition for members and tournaments. This role involves significant outdoor work in varying weather conditions and requires a strong commitment to safety protocols. The ability to anticipate challenges, troubleshoot problems proactively, and implement innovative solutions is essential. This position is based in **Denver, Colorado, US**. Key duties include:
Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic programs for all turf areas, including greens, tees, fairways, and rough. Manage daily course operations, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control. Supervise, train, and motivate a team of maintenance staff. Oversee the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment. Manage the annual budget for the maintenance department, ensuring cost-effectiveness. Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures for the grounds crew. Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance practices accordingly. Maintain detailed records of all agronomic activities, expenses, and staff performance. Collaborate with club management, golf professionals, and committees to achieve club objectives. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course management. GCSAA Class A certification preferred. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management (IPM). Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong understanding of irrigation systems and water management practices. Proficiency in budgeting and financial management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
