About the Role
Our client, a premier golf resort renowned for its immaculate greens and challenging fairways, is looking for an experienced and dedicated Professional Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and development of their world-class facilities in San Antonio, Texas, US . This role demands a meticulous eye for detail, a passion for turfgrass management, and strong leadership capabilities to manage a skilled grounds crew.
Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive agronomic programs for all turfgrass areas, including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Supervise, train, and motivate a team of groundskeepers and equipment operators. Manage the budget for course maintenance, including labor, supplies, equipment, and capital expenditures. Oversee the selection, procurement, and maintenance of all golf course machinery and equipment. Ensure the highest standards of course conditioning, playability, and aesthetic appeal year-round. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control diseases, insects, and weeds, minimizing the use of chemical applications where possible. Manage irrigation systems effectively to ensure optimal moisture levels while conserving water resources. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and budget expenditures. Collaborate with golf professionals and club management to ensure the course meets the expectations of members and guests. Stay current with advancements in turfgrass science, equipment technology, and sustainable maintenance practices. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and safety protocols. Plan and execute course renovation and construction projects as needed. Qualifications: Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field is highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent on a reputable golf course. Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) is a significant advantage. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems. Proven experience in budget management and team leadership. Ability to operate and maintain a wide range of golf course maintenance equipment. Strong understanding of water conservation techniques and sustainable practices. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain).
