About the Role
Our client, a prestigious operator in the Leisure & Sports industry, is actively seeking an experienced Senior Golf Course Operations Director to lead their fully remote operational oversight team. This role demands a visionary leader with extensive experience in golf course management, agronomy, and the strategic development of high-end recreational facilities. You will be instrumental in setting operational standards, driving efficiency, and ensuring an unparalleled guest experience across multiple properties, all while working remotely. This position requires a sophisticated understanding of the intricacies involved in maintaining world-class golf courses and associated club amenities, with a strong focus on financial performance and member satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies for golf course maintenance, clubhouse operations, and member services. Oversee agronomy programs, ensuring the highest standards of turfgrass health and playing conditions. Manage budgets for all operational departments, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation for maximum profitability. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of course superintendents, F&B managers, and guest services staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and sustainable best practices in course management. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to enhance the guest experience and drive membership acquisition and retention. Implement and refine operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across all facilities. Monitor industry trends and best practices in golf course operations, leisure, and hospitality to maintain a competitive advantage. Develop and execute capital improvement plans in coordination with ownership and senior management. Address and resolve any operational challenges or member concerns with professionalism and efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Golf Course Management, Horticulture, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or PGA certification highly preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in high-level golf course operations management, with a significant portion in a director-level capacity. Demonstrated success in managing P&Ls for large-scale leisure or sports facilities. Expert knowledge of turfgrass science, agronomy, pest management, and irrigation systems. Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a remote operational structure. Exceptional strategic planning, financial management, and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of club operations, including food and beverage, retail, and event management. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits or strategic meetings as required. Proficiency with relevant operational software and data analysis tools.
