Golf Course Groundskeeper Position Summary: This position is located at Feather Sound Country Club
"A Feather Sound Country Club Golf Groundskeeper" maintains the course's turf, landscaping, and hazards to ensure optimal playability and aesthetic appeal. The Greenskeeper is responsible for supporting the maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf, landscaping, and course features, to ensure excellent playing conditions. This role involves performing daily maintenance tasks, operating equipment, and assisting with agronomic practices under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. The Greenskeeper contributes to creating a safe, clean, and championship-quality environment for members and guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Turf Maintenance: Mow and trim greens, tee boxes, fairways, aprons, and roughs to precise heights. Perform tasks like aerating, topdressing, fertilizing, and seeding/sodding.
Hazard & Course Prep: Rake and edge bunkers, clear debris, and execute daily course setups (e.g., changing hole locations and moving tee markers).
Equipment Operation & Upkeep: Safely operate heavy machinery and power tools, including all types of riding/walking mowers, utility vehicles, rollers, carts, tractors, trimmers, and powered and non-powered hand tools. Keeps golf course maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected.
Landscaping & Gardening: Prune shrubs, trim trees, weed garden beds, and plant flowers as required by management.
Irrigation & Drainage: Assist in repairing sprinkler heads, laying pipes, and monitoring water distribution across the course.
Safety & Compliance: Observe all OSHA, club safety protocols, and proper chemical/pesticide handling guidelines
Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods. Ability to work in hot, humid, or cold outdoor environments.
Schedule: Must be available for early morning starts (e.g., 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM), as well as weekends and holidays.

Other Responsibilities:
Participates in daily set up of the golf course for play.
Ensures a pleasant visit for each guest; maintains effective guest relations.
Participates in required trainings and meetings.
Performs other required tasks and duties as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
1+ year groundskeeping or related experience
Valid driver’s license
Proficient in using manual and power tools safely
Ability to understand and receive instruction in English
Works cooperatively with others in a team environment
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic knowledge of plants, turf, irrigation systems, and landscaping practices
Safety-conscious mindset with proper use of tools and chemicals
Physical Demands:
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.
Medium to Heavy work; routinely lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting 100 lbs.
Operating motor vehicles (golf carts) or heavy equipment
Work Environment:
The Greenskeeper performs the majority of duties outdoors on the golf course and surrounding grounds. The position requires working in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Work may be performed on wet, uneven, sloped, or rough terrain and around ponds, irrigation systems, landscaping, and other course features.
The employee regularly works around motorized maintenance equipment, landscaping tools, irrigation equipment, fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf-care products. The work environment may include exposure to dust, dirt, grass clippings, pollen, insects, chemicals, fumes, vibration, and moderate to loud equipment noise. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
This is a physically active position requiring frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or carrying equipment and materials. The employee must be able to safely operate assigned equipment and perform duties in accordance with established safety procedures.
Because golf course maintenance is generally performed before or around daily play, the position may require early-morning hours, weekends, holidays, and occasional schedule changes based on weather, course conditions, tournaments, or operational needs. Employees must remain alert to golfers, golf carts, maintenance vehicles, and other employees while working throughout the course.

Employment with Feather Sound Country Club (“FSCC”) is “at-will” and either you or FSCC may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice. Nothing in this letter creates a contract for continued employment.
