About the Role
A prestigious golf club near Baltimore, Maryland, US is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Golf Professional to lead its golf operations. This role requires a highly skilled individual dedicated to providing exceptional service to members and guests, fostering a vibrant golf community, and managing all aspects of the golf department. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing golf programs, overseeing instruction, managing the pro shop, and ensuring the highest standards of course etiquette and player experience.
Responsibilities:
Manage all daily golf operations, including tee time reservations, player check-in, and course marshaling. Develop and implement a comprehensive schedule of golf events, tournaments, clinics, and lessons for members of all skill levels. Provide high-quality golf instruction, including individual lessons, playing lessons, and group clinics. Oversee the management of the golf shop, including inventory control, purchasing, merchandising, and sales. Develop and manage the golf department budget, ensuring financial targets are met. Maintain strong relationships with members, providing personalized service and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Ensure adherence to club rules, regulations, and golf etiquette on the course. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate golf staff, including assistant professionals and shop attendants. Collaborate with the golf course superintendent to ensure optimal course conditions and player satisfaction. Promote golf programs and services to attract new members and retain existing ones.
Qualifications:
PGA or LPGA certified professional designation is required. Minimum of 7 years of experience in golf professional roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or Head Professional capacity. Proven track record in developing and executing successful golf programs and events. Exceptional teaching and coaching skills with a strong understanding of swing mechanics. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong business acumen, including experience with budgeting, inventory management, and retail operations. Proficiency with golf management software (e.g., Jonas, Club Prophet Systems) and POS systems. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. A passion for the game of golf and commitment to promoting its growth and enjoyment. This is a full-time, on-site position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
