About the Role
Our client, a prestigious golf club located in the heart of Durham, North Carolina , is seeking an experienced and charismatic Head Golf Professional to oversee all golf operations. This is a hands-on role that requires a blend of exceptional golf instruction skills, strong business acumen, and outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the golf shop, coordinating tournaments and events, leading a team of golf instructors and outside services staff, and promoting the club's golf programs. You will be instrumental in enhancing the member and guest experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, and driving revenue through lessons, merchandise sales, and event participation. This position demands a deep knowledge of golf, including rules, etiquette, and modern teaching methodologies. A passion for developing talent, both in staff and in golfers of all skill levels, is essential. You will work closely with the club's management and committees to develop strategic plans for the golf division, ensuring its continued success and growth. Responsibilities include: managing inventory and merchandising; developing and executing a comprehensive lesson and clinic schedule; overseeing course marshalling and pace of play; maintaining relationships with golf equipment manufacturers and vendors; and ensuring compliance with all club policies and procedures. The Head Golf Professional will also be responsible for budget management and financial reporting for the golf operations. Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day golf shop operations, including staffing, scheduling, and inventory. Provide high-quality golf instruction and clinics for members and guests. Organize and execute golf tournaments, leagues, and special events. Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote golf programs and services. Oversee outside services staff and ensure a positive experience for all golfers. Manage golf club repair services and club fitting programs. Maintain relationships with vendors and manage merchandise purchasing. Ensure adherence to club policies, golf etiquette, and course rules. Assist in budget development and financial management for golf operations. Qualifications: PGA or LPGA Class A Professional certification required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf professional roles. Proven experience in golf instruction, tournament management, and retail operations. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in golf management software (e.g., Jonas, Clubessential). Knowledge of golf equipment and fitting techniques. Business management and financial acumen.
