Three Tees is a 9-hole public golf course located in the growing community of Sartell, Minnesota. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and beautifully maintained fairways, Three Tees offers a non-intimidating yet challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels. Our course is a favorite destination for regular rounds, after work "happy hour" golf and family outings making it one of the most popular 9-hole golf experiences in the area. Three Tees Golf & Social features a driving range, gas powered carts and an on-course beverage service to enhance our players' experience. A new and improved lighted driving range is scheduled to open in 2026. In addition, construction is underway on a full-service restaurant, bar and social space, with plans to open in March of 2026, making this an exciting opportunity to join a growing property with a strong community presence and expanding amenities. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, management, maintenance and presentation of the golf course and associated grounds. This role ensures the course is maintained to high agronomic, environmental and safety standards while overseeing staff, budgets, equipment and regulatory compliance. The Superintendent reports directly to the ownership and works collaboratively with the Director of Golf to support club objectives and deliver a consistently high-quality golf experience for members and guests. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Course & Grounds Management
• Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turf grass management, irrigation, fertilization, mowing, aeration, tree management and pest control
• Oversee daily course preparation including bunkers, tees, greens and fairways
• Establish and maintain course conditions course conditions that meet or exceed golfer expectations while accounting for seasonal and environmental conditions
• Monitor weather patterns and adjust maintenance plans accordingly
• Oversee maintenance of practice facilities, landscaping, parking areas, cart paths and all structures on the grounds
• Manage and maintain a high-functioning irrigation system, including moisture monitoring, runtime adjustments and preventative maintenance
• Develop and implement integrated pest management strategies to control weeds, insects and disease Maintenance Equipment & Mechanical Operations
• Performing and overseeing preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on all turf and grounds equipment
• Maintaining the maintenance in a clean, organized and safe condition
• Tracking equipment service schedules, repairs and replacement planning
• Ensuring all equipment is properly stored, fueled and operated according to safety standards
• Performing mechanical troubleshooting and coordinating outside service when necessary
• Training staff on proper equipment use, daily checks and safe operation procedures
• Maintaining accurate service records and compliance with safety requirements Staff Leadership & Safety
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate turf team staff
• Develop clear role descriptions, performance expectations and accountability standards
• Create daily work plans and adjust priorities as conditions require
• Foster a positive, respectful and safety-focused work environment
• Develop staff skills through ongoing training and monitoring
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, OSHA requirements and club policies Budgeting, Equipment & Inventory
• Participate in the development and management of operating and capital budgets
• Control expenses while maintaining high course quality standards
• Recommend capital improvements, equipment purchases and course enhancements and implement when directed
• Manage inventory, vendor relationship and supplier contracts
• Oversee maintenance, repair and replacement of golf course equipment
• Ensure proper use, storage and safe operation of all machinery and tools Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA requirements
• Implement best management practices for water conservation, chemical use and sustainability
• Maintain all required licenses, permits and regulatory records
• Keep accurate records for chemical applications, irrigation usage and maintenance schedules Communication and Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with ownership, Director of Golf and course leadership
• Communicate course conditions, maintenance plans and major projects in a clear and timely
• Participate in management meetings and contribute to long-term course planning and strategy
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of one (1) year experience of Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent with demonstrated readiness to assume a lead role
• Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems and agronomic best practices
• Proven leadership, staff management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to operate and maintain golf course machinery and tools
• Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
SALARY DETAILS
• Salary range: $52,000 to $60,000 annually, with bonus potential based on performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials
