About the Role Our client, an esteemed and private golf club renowned for its pristine conditions and exceptional member experience, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent. This critical role, located in the scenic **Richmond, Virginia** area, is responsible for the meticulous care and maintenance of the entire golf course, including turfgrass, landscaping, irrigation systems, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong agronomic background, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of course presentation. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a championship-level course and lead a dedicated groundskeeping team. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass management, including fertilization, pest control, disease management, and irrigation strategies. Supervise, train, and mentor a team of groundskeepers, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality performance. Manage course conditioning daily to ensure optimal playability and aesthetic appeal for members and guests. Oversee the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems. Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the golf course maintenance department. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable course management practices. Work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management to coordinate course operations and special events. Maintain detailed records of all agronomic activities, expenditures, and staff performance. Contribute to long-term capital improvement planning for the golf course in **Richmond, Virginia**. Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in golf course management, with at least 2 years in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role. GCSAA Class A certification is highly preferred. Proven knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems. Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills. Experience with budgeting, financial management, and inventory control. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to operate and maintain a variety of golf course equipment. Must be physically capable of performing manual labor and working outdoors in various weather conditions typical of **Richmond, Virginia**.
