About the Role
Overview
The Medal of Honor Golf Course, originally called The Officers' Club Golf Course, began in 1930 as a six‑hole layout and expanded to 18 holes in the mid‑1940s. The course offers year‑round golf, a Swing Lab training facility, a lighted driving range, a practice putting green, a Pro‑Shop, and a clubhouse for daily golf, outings, and private functions. It is open to Active Duty and Retired Military, DoD civilian employees, family members, FBI Academy, National Guard and Reserve personnel, as well as the public.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist in the operation and maintenance of the golf course, including fairways, greens, practice areas, and a driving range.
Provide technical advice and equipment to support course operations.
Coordinate, schedule, and conduct tournaments and special events; provide instruction to member golfers.
Operate the Pro Shop and golf cart rental area; offer member instruction.
Plan, organize work, and manage internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.
Prepare financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost controls, and related records and reports.
Review financial status and recommend necessary changes.
Supervise employees, including training, scheduling, performance appraisal, counseling, and personnel actions.
Ensure compliance with Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity policy, fire, safety, security, sanitation, hazardous material handling, and environmental regulations.
Maintain security for funds, merchandise, supplies, and equipment to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
Perform duties as a cashier, recreation attendant, or starter/marshal as required.
Complete financial and sales documentation and verify cashier paperwork.
Demonstrate and instruct patrons in the proper use of golf equipment.
Assist patrons in selecting golf merchandise, including basic club fitting.
Resolve patron issues that cannot be addressed by cashiers or starter/marshals.
Assist with merchandise display, rotation, stocking, and price marking.
Conduct stock counts, record results, and account for damaged or missing merchandise.
Assist with annual and periodic inventories in accordance with established procedures.
Develop and execute the annual programming schedule; coordinate with MCCS Marketing Branch to advertise events.
Develop and execute the Junior Golf Program, certifying junior golfers for unaccompanied use of the course.
Offer private golf lessons as a certified apprentice member of the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA), with compensation policy noted for lessons outside normal duties.
Provide world‑class customer service with courtesy and a friendly manner.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years experience demonstrating professional knowledge of golf operations and maintenance.
Active "Class A" member of the Professional Golfer's Association of America preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of safety, occupational health, environmental regulations, and handling of chemicals.
Knowledge of non‑appropriated fund policies and procedures preferred.
Experience supervising employees and managing work accomplishment.
Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently, and larger objects with assistance.
Must obtain and maintain a Tier‑1 Child Care (CNACl) background check for positions involving work with children under 18.
