Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Merchandise Assistant to support the daily operations of the golf shop’s retail environment. Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, the Merchandise Assistant will help ensure the sales floor is well-stocked, organized, and inviting, while also assisting with inventory, merchandising displays, and member service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in retail, especially within the golf industry, while working in a dynamic club setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing incoming merchandise deliveries
Tag and display products on the sales floor according to visual merchandising standards
Restock shelves and displays as needed to maintain a clean, organized, and appealing shop environment
Support the setup and breakdown of promotional displays and seasonal product changes
Conduct routine inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records
Greet members and guests, provide information on products, and assist with sales transactions
Process special orders for members and follow up on their status as needed
Keep fitting rooms, counters, and storage areas tidy and organized
Assist with preparing merchandise for club tournaments, events, and outings
Report low stock levels or product issues to the Merchandise Manager promptly
Support loss prevention efforts by following shop policies and procedures
Participate in periodic staff meetings and training sessions as required
Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth retail operations
Required Skills / Abilities:
1+ year of experience in a retail, hospitality, or customer service role (golf industry experience a plus)
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak club event days as needed
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the sales floor
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
May require occasional travel within region
