About the Role Our client, a premier leisure and sports establishment in the heart of Jacksonville, Florida , is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the immaculate maintenance and strategic development of their renowned golf course. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass maintenance, including fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control, and cultural practices. Supervise, train, and mentor a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols. Manage the golf course maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and equipment, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality. Operate and maintain all grounds maintenance equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and scheduling necessary repairs and replacements. Monitor course conditions daily, making timely adjustments to mowing, watering, and other maintenance activities to ensure playability and aesthetic appeal. Implement and oversee integrated pest management (IPM) programs, prioritizing environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions. Collaborate with golf course architects and management on course improvement projects, renovations, and drainage solutions. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Foster a positive and professional working environment for the entire groundskeeping team. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role. Possession of a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) certification is highly preferred. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, pest/disease identification and control, and irrigation systems. Proficiency in budgeting, resource management, and team leadership. Familiarity with various golf course maintenance equipment and technologies. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, management, and golfers. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
