Assistant Superintendent
Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club | Naples, Florida
Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and team-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our Golf Course Management team in Naples, Florida.
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the daily maintenance and agronomic care of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated turf professional who takes pride in exceptional playing conditions, effective team leadership, and maintaining high standards of golf course presentation. Major upcoming projects include pump station replacement in 2028 and irrigation system and turf renovation in 2029.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the daily planning, scheduling, and execution of golf course maintenance operations.
- Supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established standards.
- Assist with mowing, irrigation, fertilization, chemical applications, and general turf and landscape maintenance.
- Monitor turfgrass health and identify issues involving pests, diseases, irrigation, nutrition, and environmental conditions.
- Assist with the implementation of agronomic programs and seasonal maintenance practices.
- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment and assist with equipment troubleshooting and upkeep.
- Help manage irrigation systems, including monitoring, repairs, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, fertilizer applications, irrigation practices, labor, and other maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent, management, and other departments.
- Software management of newly implemented technologies.
- Assist with special projects, tournaments, course setup, and other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous golf course maintenance experience required; supervisory or assistant superintendent experience preferred.
- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass cultural practices, irrigation, fertility, pest management, and golf course maintenance.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse maintenance team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work outdoors in the South Florida climate and accommodate early-morning, weekend, and holiday schedules as required by golf course operations.
- Florida pesticide applicator certification, or the ability to obtain required certification, is preferred.
