The Role
The Assistant Retail Director plays a key role in executing a best-in-class retail operation. This position partners closely with the Director of Retail to bring strategy to life, balancing exceptional member service with strong merchandising and operational execution.
This is a hands-on role, supporting inventory management, buying strategies, visual presentation, and retail events.
What You’ll Do
Deliver world-class service through meaningful interactions with members and guests
Create and uphold visually compelling, “best of the best” retail displays
Utilize the Jonas POS system to manage SKUs, pricing, and merchandise receiving
Keep stockrooms organized, efficient, and operationally strong
Manage the full special-order process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication
Partner with the Director of Retail on product assortment and buying strategies
Monitor inventory levels and execute reorders to maintain proper stock levels
Take ownership of returns and defective merchandise processes
Support retail strategy execution across Golf, Tennis, and Aquatics retail areas
Assist in planning, promoting, and executing Golf Shop events and tournaments
Analyze sales trends to optimize inventory mix and turnover
Build strong, professional relationships with members, team members, and vendor partners
Support day-to-day operations at the sales counter as needed
Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
What You Bring
2+ years of merchandising or retail experience
Private club experience preferred, but not required
A passion for retail and delivering an elevated customer experience
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
A team-first mindset with strong communication skills
A proactive, “can-do” approach with a sense of ownership
