Golf Course Superintendent
Guyan Golf & Country Club seeks a Head Golf Course Superintendent to lead golf course
and property maintenance. The club is seeking a practical, visible leader who can guide
an agronomic program, develop a strong team, manage resources responsibly, and
communicate clearly with club leadership and members. The role is accountable for
consistent playing conditions, turf health, safe and effective use of people and
equipment, sound budgeting, and clear communication with club leadership.
Responsibilities
● Develop and execute annual and seasonal agronomic plans for greens, tees,
fairways, rough, bunkers, practice areas, landscaping, trees, and irrigation.
● Assess turf condition and document priorities, treatment decisions, weather
impacts, risks, and results. Adjust plans using field observations and appropriate
technical advice.
● Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate grounds associates; set daily
assignments and standards, including seasonal staffing and coverage.
● Prepare and manage operating and labor budgets; monitor purchasing, overtime,
inventory, equipment maintenance, and capital needs.
● Maintain irrigation, drainage, equipment, and chemical application programs;
ensure required training, records, and safe practices.
● Coordinate daily setup, projects, closures, and tournament preparation with Golf
Professionals and other departments.
● Provide concise, timely updates to the GM and, as requested, the Grounds
Committee and Board; explain course conditions and planned work to members
in a constructive way.

Qualifications
● Demonstrated golf course maintenance leadership, either as a superintendent or
as a senior assistant with substantial responsibility and readiness to lead.
● Strong turf and agronomic judgment, especially diagnosing stress, planning
recovery, irrigation management, and prioritizing work with limited resources.
● Experience managing teams, labor plans, budgets, vendors, equipment, and
multi-season projects; ability to show outcomes and lessons learned.
● Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgment under member
scrutiny, and a record of respectful collaboration.
● Relevant education, certifications, and applicator licensing as required for the
work; confirm current credential requirements before hire.
Candidates should have meaningful golf course maintenance leadership experience,
strong turf management judgment, a record of building effective teams, and the ability
to translate field conditions into clear priorities. Experienced superintendents and
accomplished assistants prepared for their first superintendent role are encouraged to
apply.
