Job Title: Golf Course Superintendent

Department: Grounds and Maintenance Reports To: General Manager / Director of Golf Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This includes turfgrass management, irrigation systems, equipment maintenance, personnel supervision, budgeting, and ensuring optimal playing conditions year-round. The Superintendent works closely with the General Manager and Golf Professional staff to deliver a high-quality golf experience for members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and implement maintenance and agronomic programs to maintain greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and roughs to championship standards Supervise and manage all grounds staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations Oversee operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, including repairs and water management practices Monitor and manage pest, disease, and weed control using integrated pest management (IPM) practices Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, equipment use, and agronomic plans Develop and manage the annual turf maintenance budget, including forecasting, procurement, and expense tracking Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental stewardship and chemical usage Operate and maintain all grounds equipment, coordinating with mechanics as needed Coordinate with the Golf Professional staff to ensure course set-up aligns with tournament, league, and member needs Maintain safety standards for crew operations and equipment use

Qualifications:

Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred Minimum 3–5 years of golf course maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain within 90 days) Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Working knowledge of irrigation systems (Toro, Rain Bird, etc.) and turfgrass science Proficiency in managing seasonal staffing and equipment maintenance cycles Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment:

Majority of work performed outdoors on the golf course Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and operating heavy machinery Exposure to fertilizers, chemicals, and outdoor elements

Compensation:

Salary based on experience and qualifications. Benefits may include health insurance, golf privileges, uniform allowance, and continuing education opportunities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
