Metairie Country Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (AGCS) to help elevate the quality of its golf course, lead a diverse and hardworking team, and serve the membership with professionalism, dedication, and loyalty. Position Summary
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent and plays a key role in the daily maintenance, long-term planning, and overall presentation of the golf course and its facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in planning, supervising, and executing all aspects of maintaining:Playing surfacesNatural areasCourse landscaping
in alignment with the Director of Agronomy\'s agronomic vision.Lead, train, and develop askilled and motivated golf course maintenance team with a focus on:Equipment operationDepartmental policiesSafety standardsSupervise and perform fertilizer and pesticide applications, including proper calibration of application equipment.Monitor, maintain, service, and schedule irrigation system operations in coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent.Maintain accurate records for:Fertilizer and pesticide applicationsLabor tracking and reportingEffectively communicate expectations, goals, and feedback to all golf maintenance staff.Monitor and managegreens moisture levels throughout the day.Encourage and accept feedback from staff to improve:EfficiencyEquipment usagePolicies and proceduresProvide operational input and recommendations to the Director of Agronomy.Job Requirements
The candidate must be physically and mentally capable of performing all job duties, including but not limited to: Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periodsWorking outdoors in varying weather conditionsManaging weekend crews on an every-other-weekend scheduleOverseeing daily moisture management and overall course conditionsMaking sound, educated decisions independentlySuccessfully passing a criminal background checkEducation & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of a 2- or 4-year Turfgrass Management program from an accredited institutionMust possess, or be able to obtain, a Louisiana Department of Agriculture Category 3 Commercial Pesticide Applicator LicenseCompensation & Benefits
