About the Role
Southern Trace Country Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This position works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain exceptional playing conditions while helping lead daily golf course maintenance operations. The successful candidate will be passionate about turfgrass management, committed to excellence, and eager to grow within the golf course industry.

Southern Trace Country Club is a premier private country club located in Shreveport Louisiana, offering members and exceptional golf, dining, and recreational experience.
The property includes an 18 hole championship golf course and large practice facility. The club was recently renovated with a new irrigation system, new Mach 1 ultradwarf Bermuda greens, and 419 fairways and roughs.
Providing top conditions on a daily basis is the standard and we take great pride in exceeding expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising all daily golf course activities.
- Lead and motivate the maintenance team while promoting a positive, safety-focused work environment.
- Monitor and Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and practice facilities.
- Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications, calibration and record keeping in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor irrigation performance and assist with irrigation scheduling.
- Participate in course setup, tournament preparation, and special events.
- Train and develop crew members on proper maintenance practices and equipment operation.
- Assist with budgeting, inventory, and purchasing of maintenance supplies.
Qualifications
- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass management, Agronomy, horticulture or related field.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Assistant in Training.
- Knowledge of warm season grasses and Bermuda grass green practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and vehicles.
