About the Role
Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the Restaurant Server is to provide prompt and professional service and sales to all Sunnehanna Country Club members/guests. To provide excellent service, the Restaurant Server properly sets all tables and performs all prep work in advance. In addition, the Restaurant Server maintains cleanliness of and keeps all dining areas, kitchen areas, storage areas, office areas, hallways, and equipment in order. The Restaurant Server serves as a positive team member with the Restaurant department and other club departments.
Duties
Ensures excellent customer service, superb public relations, and makes all members/ guests always feel comfortable and welcome.
Discusses all daily specials with the Manager and/or Chef(s) in advance of his/her shift.
Prepares all related work areas for service.
Greets members/guests warmly within 60 seconds of arrival. Pours water and informs members/guest of specials. (Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell menu items to guests).
Offers prompt and professional service to all members/guests.
Takes beverage order at initial table approach. Removes or adds extra place settings as required.
Makes coffee and tea and can correctly pour water and other beverages.
Understands proper service etiquette.
Possesses a thorough knowledge of all menus and wine listings and is able to describe various food items (including alcoholic beverages/wine) to members/guests.
Submits order to kitchen using proper timing sequence.
Checks with members/guests regarding quality.
Performs table maintenance throughout meal.
Pours wine when table service is offered and checks identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve, in a polite manner, beverages to members/guests who are not of legal age. Observes member/guest behavior to ensure their safety when consuming alcoholic beverages.
Sells dessert and/or after dinner drinks.
Presents check in timely fashion.
Cleans/busses and resets tables in a quiet and timely manner.
Maintains cleanliness of individual stations and all common work areas.
Prepares garnishes for mixed drinks and/or entrees as required.
Prepares desserts as required.
Cleans, mops, and vacuums floors.
Maintains cleanliness of furniture, tables, and chairs.
Polishes silverware, glassware, and China.
Follows strict sanitation and safety standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to build effective business relationships and guest loyalty.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Positive attitude.
Must have a pleasant personality, be cooperative, and work well with others.
Must have the ability to communicate in English; must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Must always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Legally allowed to work in the United States.

Prolonged periods of standing
Physical demands include the ability to see (clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, possess three-dimensional vision, and be able to identify and distinguish colors), sit, talk (ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word), hear (ability to perceive the nature of sounds), stand for long periods of time, walk, handle, feel reach, bend, stoop, and lift, carry, push or pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
