About the Role
Job Overview The primary responsibility of the Banquet Server is to provide prompt and professional service to guests at all meetings, banquet, and wedding functions. To provide excellent service, the Banquet Server sets the function area as well as performing all prep work in advance. In addition, the Banquet Server maintains cleanliness of and keeps all meeting rooms, office areas, banquet hallways and equipment in order.
The Banquet
Server serves as a positive team member with the Banquet department and other Club departments.
Duties
Ensures excellent customer service, superb public relations, and makes all guests always feel comfortable and welcome.
Discusses the event with Clubhouse Manager and Chef(s) in advance of all functions.
Confirms the meeting areas are accurately set prior to the arrival of all members/guests.
Ensures all special requests of the members/guests are met.
Offers prompt and professional service to members/guests at all meetings, banquets, and wedding functions.
Greets members/guests warmly upon arrival and can answer member/guests inquiries.
Using a tray, serves food to members/guests in proper sequence.
Makes coffee and tea and can correctly pour water and other beverages.
Understands proper service etiquette.
Takes beverage orders at the table when required. Removes or adds extra place settings as required.
Possesses a thorough knowledge of all banquet menus and can describe various food items (including alcoholic beverages/wine) to members/guests.
Checks with members/guests regarding the quality of the experience and inquires as to additional needs.
Performs table maintenance throughout all meals.
Cleans/busses and resets tables in an efficient, quiet, and timely manner.
Prepares all related work areas for service.
Maintains cleanliness of individual stations and all common work areas.
Cleans, mops, and vacuums floors as needed.
Clear tables after events are over. Hang up all skirting. Put away butter, lemon’s coffee pots, etc.
Maintains cleanliness of furniture, tables, and chairs.
Polishes silverware, glassware, and china.
Prepares table place settings correctly with necessary cutlery or roll-up silverware sets.
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to build effective business relationships and guest loyalty.
Must be at least 16 years of age
Positive attitude.
Must have a pleasant personality, be cooperative, and work well with others.
Must have the ability to communicate in English; must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Must always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Legally allowed to work in the United States.
Prolonged periods of standing
Physical demands include the ability to see (clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, possess three-dimensional vision, and be able to identify and distinguish colors), sit, talk (ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word), hear (ability to perceive the nature of sounds), stand for long periods of time, walk, handle, feel reach, bend, stoop, and lift, carry, push or pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
