About the Role
Position Overview
Oakland Beach Golf Course is seeking an experienced and driven Golf Course Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our golf facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the golf operation, pro shop, outings and events, and driving growth across all revenue streams. The ideal candidate is a passionate golf professional with strong business acumen, exceptional customer service skills, and a proven ability to grow rounds, memberships, and event bookings.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations
Oversee daily golf course operations including tee sheet management, starter and ranger coordination, pace of play, and on-course guest experience
Manage cart operations, driving range, practice facilities, and bag storage
Work closely with the superintendent and grounds crew to ensure course conditions meet player expectations
Develop and enforce policies for play, dress code, and course etiquette
Schedule, train, and supervise outside operations staff
Pro Shop Management
Oversee all pro shop operations including merchandising, inventory management, purchasing, and visual presentation
Drive retail sales through effective product selection, vendor relationships, and promotional strategies
Manage point-of-sale systems, daily reconciliation, and reporting
Hire, train, and develop pro shop staff to deliver exceptional customer service
Monitor margins, turnover, and seasonal buying to maximize profitability
Outings & Events
Lead the sales, booking, planning, and execution of golf outings, tournaments, and corporate events
Serve as the primary point of contact for outing organizers from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up
Coordinate with food and beverage, grounds, and operations teams to deliver seamless events
Develop event packages, pricing structures, and contracts
Build long-term relationships with corporate clients, charity organizations, and league coordinators to drive repeat business
Growth & Business Development
Develop and execute strategies to grow rounds played, membership, league participation, and outing revenue
Create marketing campaigns in partnership with leadership, including social media, email, and local outreach
Identify new revenue opportunities including clinics, leagues, junior programs, and group lessons
Track and analyze key performance metrics; report regularly on revenue, rounds, and customer trends
Build community partnerships and represent Oakland Beach at local events and within the golf community
Instruction & Player Development (as applicable)
Provide or coordinate lessons, clinics, and player development programs
Build a robust junior golf program and beginner-friendly initiatives to grow the game
Staff Leadership
Recruit, hire, train, and develop a strong seasonal and year-round team
Build a culture of hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and ongoing training
Qualifications
3+ years of progressive experience in golf or hospitality operations
PGA Membership or PGA Associate status preferred (or actively pursuing) - Not required
Proven track record of growing rounds, retail sales, or event revenue
Kknowledge of golf shop POS systems, tee sheet software, and inventory management
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Marketing and social media experience a plus
Ability to work weekends during the Summer/Golf Season
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
