DEPENDING ON THE CANDIDATE'S AVAILABILITY, THIS POSITION MAY SERVE AS A CONSULTANT WITH FERTILZER AND CHEMICAL APPLICATIONS AS NEEDED, OR AN INTERIM WORKING SUPERINTENDENT FOR AS LONG AS REQUIRED
The Club currently has a full-time superintendent who will possibly be out on medical leave for an extended period and then later return to their position.
Depending on the contracted arrangement, temporary housing may be provided
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and operational excellence of our premier golf course. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to oversee all aspects of course management, ensuring optimal playing conditions, environmental sustainability, and aesthetic appeal. As the interim leader, you will play a vital role in maintaining the course’s reputation for quality and providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests. Your expertise in landscape maintenance, landscaping, and horticulture will be essential to drive the course’s ongoing success.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily golf course maintenance operations, including turf management, landscaping, irrigation, and tree care to ensure pristine playing conditions.
Supervise a team of groundskeepers, landscapers, and maintenance staff, providing leadership, training, and performance feedback to foster a motivated and efficient workforce.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules that incorporate lawn care, horticulture practices, construction projects, and routine repairs to sustain course quality.
Manage irrigation systems and water resources effectively to promote healthy turf growth while conserving water.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized services such as tree care, landscaping enhancements, or construction projects on the course.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations related to landscape maintenance and pesticide application.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and course conditions to support ongoing improvements and reporting.
Experience
Proven supervising experience in golf course or large-scale landscape maintenance environments.
Strong background in landscape maintenance, landscaping techniques, lawn care practices, and horticulture principles.
Hands-on experience with irrigation systems management, tree care, gardening, and general construction related to outdoor environments.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of turfgrass science and pest management strategies specific to golf courses or similar settings.
Familiarity with safety protocols related to landscaping equipment operation and chemical handling is preferred.
