About the Role
Farmington Country Club presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our high-volume and fast-paced Food and Beverage Operations team as an Casual Restaurant Runner / Host! Our runners and hosts consistently deliver high-quality service to our members and their guests in a friendly, professional manner. An ideal candidate has a background in casual dining is looking to give members and their guests fantastic service. An ideal Casual Restaurant Runner / Host candidate is available evenings and weekends and wants 3-5 shifts a week. Hosts are responsible for maintaining a flow seating of members evenly throughout the dining room, balancing existing reservations with the waitlist, assisting in take-out orders, and maintaining a clean and neat host podium, coat rack, and lobby. Runners provide clear communication with the service team and the kitchen expo, maintains the cleanliness of the runner line, and delivers food from kitchen to dining areas in two minutes or less.
The Grill is the go-to spot for members of Farmington Country Club, and is a casual sit-down restaurant & bar with a focus on American Bistro style cuisine with a complimenting bar program. The Grill hosts four different dining options – the Bar & Pub, the Dining Room, the Terrace, and the Take-Out. Member expectations often differ between the spaces, although they are still there to enjoy the same great food, elevated drinks, and excellent service. The Grill is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner service 7 days a week.

Breakfast 7:30am-11:00am
Lunch 11:00am-2:30pm
Pub Menu & Bar Service 2:30pm-5:00pm
Dinner 5:00pm-9:00pm
Shifts:
Breakfast/Lunch Shift: 8:00am-3:30pm
Lunch Shift: 10:00am-3:30pm
Dinner Shift: 4:00pm-9:30pm
Pay:
Casual Dining Hosts make $8/hourly base pay + tips from to-go orders. All checks in the restaurant have an automatic 20% gratuity and members have the option to give an additional tip. When there is more than one host working, tips are tip pooled between hosts.
Casual Dining Runners make $12/hour base pay + 3% of sales tip out from servers & bartenders.
Overall Responsibilities:
Greet members immediately upon entry with a smile and by name
Offer to hang coats, hats, and umbrellas
Offer extra assistance to the elderly and handicapped
Open doors for members upon arrival or departure when possible
Maintain server map and record of cover distribution
Provide appropriate menus and a wine list to each table
Inform kitchen managers as to the number of menus in the dining room at any given time
Maintain cleanliness of all menus, inside and out
Keep all menus up-to-date, including the appropriate weekly specials
Answer the phone, according to Grill standards
Full knowledge and understanding of the food and wine menus for to-go orders
Take to-go orders and prepare checks and drinks for the runner station.
Assist with table maintenance of water tables and folding napkins when a guest leaves the table
Assist with bussing and sanitizing tables.
Attend staff pre-shift meetings for information on service points and policy changes
Follow staff checklists for set-up and clean-up
Complete and report all weekly cleaning assignments to a manager for inspection.
Report lost and found items to the managers
Complete assigned duties thoroughly and in a timely manner
Answer questions from the expo about tickets and find the appropriate service staff
Deliver up to 3 plates/dishes to the table according to how they are presented in the window. Coordinate additional staff to assist in food delivery when needed
Clean and stock runner station
Assist with the bussing of tables
A minimum of six months of similar food service experience preferred
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 30 pounds
Must be able to walk and stand for six hours consecutively
Strong teamwork and communication skills
This is a year-round position and is not intended for summer-only employment. Candidates must have availability to work throughout the year, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
