About the Role
Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to support the daily maintenance, conditioning, and long-term agronomic health of the golf course and practice facilities. This role plays a key part in delivering championship-quality playing conditions while balancing operational efficiency, environmental stewardship, and an exceptional member and guest experience in a semi-private club setting.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising daily golf course maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and cultural practices.Lead, train, and motivate the grounds maintenance team, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.Monitor turf health, soil conditions, and playing surfaces; assist with diagnosing and addressing turf stress, disease, and pest issues.Support irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repairs, and water-management strategies.Assist in the application and recordkeeping of fertilizers, chemicals, and soil amendments in compliance with regulations and best practices.Maintain course presentation standards that align with member expectations and club events.Ensure adherence to safety programs, OSHA standards, and proper equipment use.Assist with inventory control, equipment care, and maintenance of maintenance facilities.Collaborate with the Golf Professional staff to coordinate course setup, tournaments, and special events.Communicate effectively with the Superintendent regarding course conditions, staffing needs, and improvement opportunities.Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.Experience
Preferred: Associates or Bachelors degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.Preferred: One to three years experience in progressive golf course maintenance.Schedule
Monday - FridayFlexibility required to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, or extended hours during peak golf season.Compensation
$23.00 - $25.00 based on experience.Environment
