Cedarville University seeks Graduate Assistant to support the Head Golf Coach in fostering a Christ-centered culture of competitive athletics that equips student-athletes to impact the world for Christ. This position assists with coaching, recruiting, player development, team operations, spiritual leadership, and administrative responsibilities for the men's and women's golf programs.
The GA will help lead a program committed to excellence in competition, academics, community service, and campus leadership while supporting the mission and commitments of Cedarville University.
This is an on-site graduate student position working less than 990 annual hours. The position is at-will and is not a contracted appointment. As part of the graduate assistantship, tuition for an approved Cedarville University graduate program is provided. Housing, meals, books, fees, and other related expenses are the responsibility of the graduate assistant.
Essential Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
Support the mission and direction of Cedarville University and the Department of AthleticsModel and promote the Athletic Department core values:Love for GodLove for OthersIntegrity in ConductExcellence in Effort
Coaching & Recruiting
Assist with instruction, conditioning, skill development, and practice preparation in compliance with NCAA legislationIdentify, recruit, and host prospective student-athletesBuild relationships with high school and club coachesCollaborate appropriately with Admissions and Athletic Department staffAssist with coaching responsibilities during practices and competitions
Student-Athlete Welfare
Support the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and social well-being of student-athletesPromote student-athlete academic success and personal growthSupport the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)Encourage campus and community engagement opportunities for team members
Operations
Assist with scheduling practices, scrimmages, and competitionsCoordinate facility setup and practice logisticsAssist with team travel planning and supervision during off-campus eventsManage team equipment and uniform inventory and purchasingCommunicate effectively with athletic administrators and support staffSubmit required reports and documentation in a timely manner
Compliance
Maintain compliance with NCAA, G-MAC, NCCAA, and University policies and regulationsMonitor academic progress and support student-athlete accountabilityReport any potential rules violations to the Compliance OfficeMaintain accurate team rosters and competition schedules
Finance & Fundraising
Assist in managing the team budget responsiblySubmit receipts and budget paperwork promptlyParticipate in fundraising efforts and departmental campaignsAssist with sport-specific camps and clinics
Additional Responsibilities
Support NCCAA postseason participation and award nominations as applicableAttend department meetings, conferences, and continuing education opportunities when possiblePerform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Coach
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution requiredCollegiate golf playing and/or coaching experience preferredStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated integrity, professionalism, and self-motivationStrong organizational and administrative skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
Required Mental & Physical Abilities
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneouslyAbility to maintain focus amid frequent interruptions and activityAbility to lift up to 25 poundsAbility to obtain and maintain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid certification or AHA Heartsaver First Aid certification
Work Environment
Work is performed in office settings, golf courses, and golf practice facilitiesPosition includes outdoor work and periodic exposure to inclement weather
