Position Title: Assistant Golf Coach Department: Athletics Supervisor: Director of Golf FLSA Status: Exempt General Job Function: The Assistant Golf Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of managing a collegiate golf program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, and administrative duties. This role helps foster a competitive, disciplined, and positive team culture while ensuring compliance with institutional and governing body rules. Duties and Responsibilities: Coaching & Player DevelopmentAssist in planning and conducting team practices, workouts, and qualifying roundsProvide technical instruction on swing mechanics, short game, course management, and mental performanceHelp analyze player performance using video and data toolsSupport strength, conditioning, and overall athlete developmentRecruitingIdentify and evaluate prospective student-athletesCommunicate with recruits, families, and high school/junior coachesAssist with campus visits and recruiting eventsMaintain recruiting database and follow compliance guidelinesTournament & Travel ManagementHelp organize team travel, lodging, and tournament logisticsAssist with lineup decisions and tournament preparationProvide on-course coaching during competitionsAcademic & Player SupportMonitor student-athlete academic progressPromote accountability, time management, and personal growthSupport compliance with academic and eligibility requirementsAdministrative DutiesAssist with scheduling, budgeting, and equipment managementCoordinate fundraising activities and alumni relations (if applicable)Manage social media or program communicationsEnsure compliance with NCAA/NAIA and institutional rulesQualifications and Skills:Bachelor's degree requiredCompetitive golf experience (college level preferred)Knowledge of swing instruction and player development principlesStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to recruit and build relationshipsValid driver's license and ability to travel frequentlyExperience with launch monitors (Track Man, GC3, etc.)Familiarity with recruiting software and video analysis toolsUnderstanding of NCAA or NAIA compliance rulesExperience coaching or teaching golf lessonsEducation and Experience:Evenings, weekends, and extensive travel requiredOutdoor work in varying weather conditionsSeasonal workload peaks during competition seasons
