The Grounds Crew at Maketewah Country Club is looking for strong-willed, motivated individuals to join our team. Currently, we are looking to fill an Assistant Superintendent position. We pride ourselves on providing championship-level playing conditions to our Members and guests on a daily basis. To do this, we need a strong group with a team-based mindset.
Maketewah is a true test of golf, home to the highest concentration of single-digit handicap players statewide. Known as one of the longest-standing United States Open qualifying courses, and now hosting the LPGA Queen City Classic. Minutes from downtown Cincinnati, hand-crafted by Donald Ross, MCC is full of character and speaks to Ohio Valley’s natural beauty.

Assistant Superintendents -- You will be working directly with the Superintendent to:
- Ensure quality control of all course maintenance
- Train all employees to operate all equipment safely and efficiently
- Prepare short-term and long-term agronomic strategies for golf course maintenance
- Perform fertility and moisture management practices
- Perform aerification and cultural practices
- Communicate daily with Pro Shop staff on course setup conditioning and special operations
- Monitor and track budget usage, rainfall, green speed/firmness, pesticide/fertilizer inventories, and more
We also have a special project for Assistant Superintendents over the winter to better prepare you for that next step. Such as building a zero-based budget for a similar caliber course, creating a spray program for all playing surfaces with a competitive budget, etc. We are dedicated to ensuring your growth and readiness for a Superintendent position.

Educational Requirements Include:
- 1-3 years turf grass management experience
- A Certificate or at least a 2 year college degree preferred
- Basic computer skills – Word and Excel
