Position Summary
Basking Ridge Country Club is seeking a talented and driven Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations of the Club. This position is responsible for the overall management of kitchen operations, menu development, food quality, team leadership, financial performance, and member satisfaction.
The Executive Chef will oversee all dining venues, banquet operations, tournaments, member events, and special functions while fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and teamwork. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a passion for hospitality, culinary innovation, and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Essential Responsibilities
Culinary Leadership
Direct and oversee all culinary operations, including à la carte dining, banquets, catering, member events, and special functions.Develop innovative seasonal menus and feature offerings that enhance the member dining experience.Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, presentation, and execution.Stay current with culinary trends and introduce new concepts and menu enhancements.Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, coach, and develop kitchen team members.Create a positive and professional work environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and growth.Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.Ensure proper staffing levels and scheduling to support Club operations.Financial & Operational Management
Manage food and labor costs to achieve budgeted goals.Oversee purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships.Monitor kitchen productivity and identify opportunities for operational improvements.Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and capital improvement plans.Member Experience
Collaborate with Club leadership and Food & Beverage management to create exceptional member experiences.Engage with members and guests to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.Support tournaments, holiday events, wine dinners, member functions, and special Club events.Maintain flexibility to accommodate member preferences and dietary requests.Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations.Maintain the highest standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace safety.Ensure proper food handling, storage, and inventory procedures.
Qualifications
5+ years of culinary leadership experience as an Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or similar senior culinary role.Experience in a private club, upscale restaurant, resort, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred.Strong leadership and team-building skills with a proven ability to develop and retain staff.Demonstrated experience managing food and labor costs.Strong menu development and banquet execution experience.Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with inventory management, purchasing, and kitchen systems.Culinary degree preferred but not required with relevant experience.ServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in varying kitchen temperatures.Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
