About the Role

Butler National Golf Club is seeking a motivated Turfgrass Management Intern for the 2027 season. This internship is designed for students and recent graduates who want meaningful hands-on experience and a broad understanding of golf course management. Interns will be involved in the daily operation of the golf course while receiving planned exposure to the areas that are most important to their professional development. Experience may include turfgrass management, irrigation, water management, chemical applications, sprayer calibration, fertility, course setup, equipment operation, and special projects. The goal of the internship is to give each individual a well-rounded experience while also allowing time to focus on the areas they are most interested in. Interns will work closely with the AIT and Assistant Superintendents and will be given increased responsibility as their knowledge and competency develop. Each intern will establish individual goals at the beginning of the season and will have opportunities to work on projects, develop technical skills, and take on leadership responsibilities. The program is structured so interns can leave Butler with skills and experience they can directly apply to the next step in their career. Housing included off-site within 15 minutes of the club   What You Will Gain - Experience across all major areas of golf course maintenance - Hands-on irrigation and water management experience - Chemical application and sprayer calibration experience - Exposure to fertility, disease scouting, and turfgrass programs - Experience with inner club tournament and daily course preparation - Opportunities to lead assigned tasks and small projects - Direct interaction with the management team - Individual development goals based on your career interests - Experience working in a large-scale golf course operation Requirements - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related program - Previous golf course maintenance experience preferred - Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to daily course operations - Interest in learning beyond routine maintenance tasks - Willingness to ask questions, take direction, and learn from experienced staff - Ability to work well with a team and communicate effectively - Valid driver's license - Ability to work extended hours and weekends during peak periods - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
