We can't wait to see you in the Ozarks. Come work alongside Bubba Wright, the Senior Director of Agronomy and the superintendents of Big Cedar Golf. This internship covers all the facets of golf course agronomy in the transition zone. Along with hands-on learning on the course, we offer every two week classroom style classes ranging in topics from professionalism, budgeting, equipment maintenance, chemical and fertility programs to irrigation. Housing is included during your internship! POSITION SUMMARY: The Golf Course maintenance summer intern is responsible for chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting, and exposure to small crew leadership opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Performs chemical applications - boom spraying greens, tees, and fairways. - Performs maintenance on Rainbird/Toro sprinkler head and troubleshoots as needed. - Sands topdressing of greens. - Hand waters bent grass greens in the transition zone using moisture meters. - Leads small project crew when opportunities arise. - Networks with the other on course assistants, course superintendents as well as the Director of Agronomy. - ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: - Service-oriented mindset and capable of making every guest feel valued. - Strong communication skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Competent in working with multiple systems, including Microsoft Office and power point. - Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. - A multi-tasker, prioritizing time effectively. - Able to work a varying shift including weekends and holidays. - Basic Computer Skills TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: - N/A PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers. - Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis. - Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally. INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: - Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
