First Assistant Golf Professional

Start Date: March 1st/15th – December 15th Summary The Lead Assistant Golf Professional at Watchung Valley Golf Club supports the Head Golf Professional in overseeing the daily golf operations, ensuring a positive golfing experience for members and guests. This role includes responsibilities in customer service, golf instruction, event coordination, merchandising, and other administrative tasks to promote the growth and enjoyment of the game of golf at the club. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Implementation and execution of golf tournaments, leagues, and other events using the Golf Genius Software. • Coordinate the development and promotion of the Junior Golf Program. • Assist with daily golf shop operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and display maintenance. • Provide information on course policies, tee times, and services available using Whoosh. • Conduct individual and group lessons for players of all skill levels. • Support and promote player development programs and initiatives to increase participation. • Collaborate with groundskeeping staff to ensure course quality and playability. • Enforce rules, pace of play, and policies to ensure a pleasant experience for all golfers. • Play golf regularly with the membership, improve your own game and compete in State/Section events. • Play with prospective members. Required Skills and Qualifications • PGA/LPGA membership or actively pursuing membership. • 2+ years of experience in a golf professional role, with supervisory responsibilities preferred. • Strong knowledge of golf instruction, tournament operations, and golf course management. • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. • Proficiency in golf-related software (e.g., tee time management, point of sale). • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Meet the Pro: Diamo Streaser is beginning his first full season as the Head Golf Professional at Watchung Valley Golf Club. Diamo was born and raised in Glen Rock, NJ and is a Coastal Carolina PGA Golf Management graduate from the Class of 2016. Previously, Diamo was the First Assistant Golf Professional at Arcola Country Club, Essex County Country Club & The Country Club (Brookline). Other work experiences include seasonal employment at Jupiter Island Club, Trump National Golf Club-Jupiter and being a member of the tournament staff at Augusta National for the past two Masters Tournaments. Diamo is a team player and is passionate about getting involved which has been shown by his efforts as Tournament Chair and most recently Chairman for the New Jersey PGA Assistant Committee.
