The Halfway Cafe Pool Line Cook is a seasonal, full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting the Club's culinary operations. This role is responsible for preparing a diverse array of food products following the Club's standardized recipes with precision and consistency, using a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils each day. The Line Cook works primarily in the fast-paced poolside environment of the Halfway Cafe, where delivering high-quality dishes efficiently and safely is paramount. The position demands a thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to the Club’s policies, safety protocols, and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience for all guests.
The Line Cook is expected to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, adapt to varying schedules based on Club needs, and uphold presentation and portion standards. Crucial duties include prepping menu items accurately from daily prep lists, maintaining inventory par levels, sanitizing and organizing food prep and storage areas, and adhering to food safety guidelines when handling perishables. The Line Cook must demonstrate versatility by mastering all cooking stations, assisting in dishwashing duties when necessary, and preparing additional food products across the kitchen as needed. Communication and collaboration with the Halfway Cafe Pool Lead Supervisor and kitchen management team are vital to effectively manage daily food preparation requirements and special event catering.
This role also includes participation in team meetings, ongoing training, and consistent implementation of kitchen cleaning and maintenance protocols. Prospective candidates should be detail-oriented, creative, resourceful, and capable of performing under pressure, all while maintaining the Club's high internal standards of quality and service. The physical demands include working long periods on foot, manual handling of kitchen supplies, and functioning within hot, humid, and noisy kitchen conditions. High School diploma or GED
Minimum three years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience preferred
Food safety certification required
Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain portion control
Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and extended shifts
Excellent communication skills
Ability to maintain composure under pressure
