Golf Shop Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Golf Shop Assistant will assist the Head Golf professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction for our members and promotion of golf. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Promote golf club and maintain high profile, professionalism and services to customers. Maintain golf facilities clean, safe and organized. Manage the handicap system of the club. Order, stock, price, and display golf merchandise for sales to guest. Welcome guests, provide good service, answer their questions, address their issues, and communicate all relevant information. Manage closing, opening and security of the golf facility. Stay updated with the current knowledge on golf course operations and setup; Play golf course and maintain proficiency in the game. Schedule and conduct golf tournaments and track tee times and course play. Oversee golf shop activities in the absence of the head professional. Assist in interviewing and recruiting golf staffs. Train employees in departmental policies and regulations. Supervise golf operations and staffs to ensure excellent performance. Coordinate and conduct group golf events. Manage tee sheet and inform golf shop on the special rules of everyday play. Collaborate with the director in budgeting and buying accessories and recommend necessary changes. Must demonstrate a positive attitude at all times Must provide outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers Working Conditions Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, weekdays, weekends and holiday based on the business needs Must be able to both indoors with A/C and outdoors General Office Equipment: printers, copiers, facsimile, laminating machine, shredders, PC (Windows, Microsoft Office suite) Golf Operation Equipment: Golf Carts, POS system, Cashier, GPS systems, Ball Pickers Must be able to stand, sit, bend, stretch, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Four year undergraduate degree preferred Minimum three years as golf professional preferred Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel Proven leadership Reputation for quality and attention to detail CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES Must have a valid Driver’s License REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Directly To: Head Golf Professional EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY The club is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
