Assistant Equipment Manager

Fawn Lake Country Club is seeking an Assistant Equipment Manager to help maintain and support the golf course maintenance equipment fleet. This is a hands-on position with an emphasis on learning, professional development, and the opportunity to grow in the field.  We have an excellent facility with well maintained equipment and a veteran staff of good people. Primary Responsibilities - Assist with daily maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of golf course equipment. - Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filters, belts, bearings, and other routine service. - Learn reel mower setup, grinding, cutting-unit adjustment, and quality-of-cut principles. - Assist with electrical, hydraulic, gasoline, and diesel equipment diagnosis and repair. - Maintain an organized, clean, and safe equipment maintenance facility. - Help track repairs, preventive maintenance, parts, and equipment service history. - Communicate equipment condition and repair priorities with the Equipment Manager and golf course management team. - Continue developing technical skills through hands-on training, industry education, manufacturer training, and professional development opportunities. Education Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Technical school, trade school, community college coursework, or industry training in small engine repair, automotive technology, diesel technology, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding, or a related field is preferred but not required. - Willingness to participate in continuing education, manufacturer training, and golf course equipment management programs is expected. Experience Requirements - 1–2 years of mechanical, equipment maintenance, automotive, small engine, agricultural, landscape, or similar hands-on experience preferred. - Previous golf course or turf equipment experience is beneficial but not required . - Basic understanding of engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, preventive maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting is preferred. - Experience with reel-type mowing equipment, grinding, welding, fabrication, or diesel equipment is a plus. - Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, dependability, initiative, and a demonstrated willingness to learn will be considered even without direct industry experience.
