About the Role

About Travis Club Travis Club is excited to announce an opening for an Assistant Equipment Manager to join our growing Agronomy team.

Located on 1,500 acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country with more than 10,000 feet of shoreline along Lake Travis, Travis Club is a premier private golf club featuring an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Beau Welling.

The golf course features Stadium Zoysia on fairways, tees, approaches, and surrounds, along with Tif3D Bermudagrass putting greens. Having officially opened Labor Day Weekend 2026, both the golf course and maintenance facility are brand new.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing operation, work with state-of-the-art equipment, and become part of a team committed to building something special.

The Opportunity We are looking for an honest, dependable, and motivated individual to join our equipment maintenance team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and brings a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Golf course equipment experience is a plus, but not required. We are more interested in finding the right person with strong character, mechanical aptitude, and a desire to develop their skills. We are happy to train the right candidate in all aspects of golf course equipment maintenance.

Our Assistant Equipment Manager will work directly alongside Equipment Manager Keith McCool in a brand-new, fully equipped maintenance facility.

What makes this opportunity special:

- Dedicated maintenance bay with a golf equipment lift and personal workbench.

- Fully stocked tool chest with brand-new electric, pneumatic, and hand tools.

- Brand-new Toro equipment fleet.

- Brand-new Bernhard reel and bedknife grinders.

- Opportunity for hands-on training, professional development, and career advancement.

- Supportive team environment focused on safety, accountability, and excellence.

Our Agronomy department consists of a Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, two Assistant Superintendents, an Irrigation Technician, Equipment Manager, and approximately 22 Greenskeepers and Equipment Operators.

Position Responsibilities The Assistant Equipment Manager plays an important role in keeping our equipment fleet operating safely, efficiently, and at the highest standards to support daily golf course maintenance.

Working under the direction of the Equipment Manager, responsibilities include:

- Assist with diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining golf course maintenance equipment.

- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, lubrication, and equipment servicing.

- Inspect, adjust, and repair cutting units, including reel mower sharpening, bedknife maintenance, and height-of-cut adjustments.

- Assist with the operation and maintenance of Bernhard grinding equipment.

- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

- Perform tire repairs, equipment adjustments, and general mechanical repairs.

- Assist with fabrication, welding, and other equipment repairs as experience allows.

- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs in the field when necessary.

- Maintain accurate equipment service and repair records.

- Keep the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

- Communicate equipment concerns, repair needs, and maintenance priorities to the Equipment Manager.

- Assist with training golf course staff on proper equipment operation and daily equipment care.

- Support the Agronomy team with additional duties as needed.

Safety, reliability, respect, and attention to detail are our highest priorities.

Qualifications We believe a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are just as important as technical experience.

Preferred qualifications and characteristics:

- At least 18 years of age.

- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with common hand and power tools.

- Previous experience with small engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, or equipment repair is beneficial.

- Golf course equipment maintenance experience is preferred but not required.

- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.

- Dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative.

- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

- Willingness to learn new skills, accept feedback, and follow direction.

- Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment operation.

- Ability to communicate effectively in English. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Previous experience at a private golf club or high-end facility is a plus, but we welcome candidates from other mechanical backgrounds who are interested in learning the golf course industry.

Schedule This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime based on operational needs.

- Daily operations typically begin at 6:00 a.m.

- Shortened weekend shifts on a rotating, every-other-weekend schedule.

- Flexibility required for occasional overtime, special events, weather-related needs, and equipment emergencies.

- Occasional after-hours communication or emergency repairs may be necessary.

Compensation & Benefits Hourly Pay: $22–$28, based on skills and experience.

Travis Club offers a competitive benefits package, including:

- Medical and life insurance coverage.

- 401(k) retirement plan with generous employer match.

- Paid time off.

- Holiday pay.

- Periodic performance evaluations and wage reviews.

- Employee golf privileges.

- Merchandise discounts.

- Professional training and opportunities for career growth.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position involves working in both a maintenance shop and outdoor golf course environment. Candidates should be comfortable working around mechanical equipment, tools, fuels, lubricants, and other materials commonly used in equipment maintenance.

The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, climb, lift, pull, and perform other physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance. Work may take place in varying weather conditions, including Texas summer heat.

All employees are expected to follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, professional, and safe work environment.
