About the role
Love Golf? Help Us Introduce the Game to the Next Generation.
Kidokinetics San Diego is looking for an energetic, dependable, and experienced Youth Golf Coach to lead our Golf-only enrichment programs at schools in the La Jolla, Del Mar, and surrounding coastal San Diego areas.
Unlike our traditional multi-sport programs, these classes are focused specifically on GOLF.
You'll work with children to introduce the fundamentals of putting, chipping, full swing, golf etiquette, safety, and sportsmanship through fun, age-appropriate instruction.
We provide the curriculum, equipment, training, and support.
You bring the golf knowledge, energy, professionalism, and dependability.
Before You Apply: Please Read This
We want candidates to understand the realities of this position before applying. There are three things that are especially important to us:
Dependability Is HUGE
Our school partners aren't booking a random instructor each week—they're expecting their Kidokinetics Coach. Once you accept a recurring Golf program, children, families, school staff, and our team are counting on you to show up every week, prepared and on time. We work with your established availability when building your schedule. Once you commit to a program, however, we expect you to take ownership of that commitment for the duration of the assigned session.
If you're looking for occasional shifts that you can pick up or drop depending on your week, this probably isn't the right position.
If you're someone who takes pride in being dependable and following through on commitments, we'd love to meet you.
Driving Is Part of the Job
This is a mobile coaching position—not a single-location job. Kidokinetics brings Golf directly to the schools we serve. Your programs may take place at different schools throughout the La Jolla, Del Mar, and surrounding areas, and your schedule may require travel between locations. That means driving—and sometimes sitting in San Diego traffic—is part of the job.
We work hard to create practical schedules and keep assignments geographically reasonable whenever possible. However, applicants should be genuinely comfortable:
Driving regularly for work Traveling between assigned schools Planning ahead for San Diego traffic Allowing enough travel time between programs Arriving on time and ready to coach Working at different locations rather than reporting to one facility every day
Please consider the travel component carefully before applying.
Communication Matters
Things happen. Traffic happens. Schedules change. We understand that. What matters is communicating early and professionally when something comes up.
Our strongest coaches respond to leadership, keep us informed, ask questions when needed, and don't leave their teammates or school partners wondering what's going on.
Dependability and communication are two of the biggest things we look for when determining long-term opportunities and compensation growth within Kidokinetics.
What You'll Do As a Youth Golf Coach, you will:
Lead Golf enrichment classes for children Teach putting, chipping, full-swing fundamentals, and basic golf mechanics Introduce golf etiquette, safety, and sportsmanship Use games and activities to make Golf approachable and fun for young players Demonstrate golf skills in an age-appropriate way Independently lead and manage groups of children Set up and organize Kidokinetics Golf equipment Create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment Represent Kidokinetics professionally at our partner schools Communicate proactively with Kidokinetics leadership Travel reliably to assigned program locations
No lesson planning is required. Kidokinetics provides the curriculum, equipment, training, and ongoing support. Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who combines golf knowledge with the ability to connect with children. Our ideal candidate
Has a strong golf background Has previous experience working with children Is comfortable demonstrating Golf fundamentals Is energetic, patient, encouraging, and confident leading groups Is highly dependable and punctual Communicates proactively and professionally Has reliable personal transportation Is comfortable regularly driving to different school locations Has consistent weekday availability Can commit to recurring programs once assigned
You do not need to be a PGA professional or competitive golfer. We're much more interested in finding someone who understands the game, can teach fundamentals correctly, is great with kids, and can be counted on every week. Compensation $22.00–$28.00/hour based on relevant experience and qualifications. Starting compensation is determined by factors such as:
Youth coaching experience Golf instruction/coaching experience Professional experience working with children Education and relevant certifications ECE/Child Development qualifications Demonstrated leadership and independence Overall fit for our programs
Candidates with substantial professional coaching, education, youth-development, or Golf instruction experience may qualify toward the higher end of the range. There are also opportunities for compensation growth as coaches gain experience, demonstrate strong performance, and take on additional responsibility within Kidokinetics. ECE & Child Development Experience
Have Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development units? That's a major plus.
Some of our programs operate within preschool and early-childhood environments. Candidates with ECE coursework, preschool experience, or Child Development backgrounds can be particularly valuable to our team.
ECE units are not required for all Golf programs.
Pre-Employment & Onboarding Requirements
Because our coaches work directly with children and within school environments, selected candidates must complete all required onboarding and clearances before being assigned to programs.
These may include
Live Scan/background clearance Negative TB clearance California Mandated Reporter training, including required School Personnel and Child Abuse training CPR/First Aid certification Additional school-specific clearances when applicable
Candidates should be prepared to complete required onboarding steps promptly once selected. Please apply only if you're prepared to complete the onboarding process and make a consistent commitment to your assigned programs. Why Join Kidokinetics?
$22–$28/hour based on experience and qualifications Golf-focused coaching opportunities Paid onboarding and training Curriculum and equipment provided Flexible part-time scheduling around established availability Opportunities for additional programs and responsibility Compensation growth based on experience and demonstrated performance Hands-on experience working with children Opportunity to help introduce young players to a lifelong sport Support from the Kidokinetics San Diego leadership team
