The Opportunity: The 2nd Assistant Spray Technician supports the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf care products to maintain the health, appearance, and playability of the club’s golf course and grounds. Working under the direction of the Spray Technician and Golf Course Superintendent, this role assists in executing agronomic programs while ensuring safe handling, mixing, and application of all materials. The 2nd Assistant Spray Technician plays an important role in delivering high-quality turf conditions that enhance the overall member and guest experience.
Duties and Functions
• Assist with the mixing and application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides across the golf course and grounds
• Operate and maintain spray equipment, including calibration and cleaning
• Follow all safety procedures related to chemical handling, storage, and application
• Assist in monitoring turf conditions and reporting issues such as pests, disease, or stress
• Maintain accurate records of chemical applications in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Support irrigation checks and adjustments as needed
• Assist with general golf course maintenance tasks when spraying is not required
• Ensure proper storage and inventory of chemicals and supplies
• Help maintain equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized condition
• Work collaboratively with the grounds team to support daily course setup and conditioning
• Adhere to all environmental regulations and best management practices
Qualification Standards
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
• Basic understanding of turfgrass maintenance practices preferred
• Willingness to learn proper chemical handling and application techniques
• Good communication and observational skills
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous golf course or landscaping experience preferred
• Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe preferred
