Golf Course Spray Technician
The Spray Technician will be responsible for performing all chemical applications on the Golf course and Resort grounds. The Spray Technician will help diagnose specific diseases, insect risks and fertilizer requirements for both preventive and curative methods or growing and maintaining turf and perform or oversee chemical applications. The Spray Technician is responsible for reading, understanding, and keeping current with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and compiling and maintaining reports of pesticide usage.
The duties of a Spray Technician include, but are not limited to the following:
•Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
•Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations, and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
•Tracks chemical inventory. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Company from time to time, is essential to the successful performance in this position.
•This position will manage and assist the Landscape Team responsible for all resort grounds and clubhouses and make recommendations regarding fertilizer, pesticide and irrigation requirements and discuss those with the Director or Assistant.
•Understand and adhere to the Club's agronomy chemical application program for growing and maintaining turf and for disease and insect prevention and curative methods.
•Assist in diagnosing diseases and insect damage or risks and recommend chemical applications for both preventive and curative methods.
•Perform or oversee all chemical applications, including accurately reading labels and mixing and applying chemicals for proper applications.
•Inspect and ensure all spray equipment is calibrated, operating safely, and maintained.
•Maintain accurate records and reports on chemical applications and usage, including Safety Data Sheets.
•Maintain inventory sheets of all chemicals and fertilizers and ensure inventory is available for chemical applications.
•Assist with other ground maintenance duties as assigned.
Requirements
•Experience and knowledge of chemical equipment and application.
•Know the proper techniques of sprayer calibration.
•Know the proper techniques of calibrating fertilizer spreaders - large and small.
•Ability to read and interpret labels. Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment.
•Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
•Ability to follow oral and written directions.
•Possession of a valid driver's license.
•Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment.
•Mechanically pressurized spray equipment
•Hand-operated spray equipment
•Hand-operated rotary spreaders
•Hand-operated drop spreaders
•Utility tractors
