Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the Effingham Country Club in Effingham, Illinois. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong kitchen experience, a passion for quality food, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This position works closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain food quality standards, support staff development, and ensure an exceptional dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing daily kitchen operations
Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
Support scheduling, training, and supervision of kitchen staff
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with inventory management and ordering
Help control food and labor costs
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams
Qualifications
Previous Sous Chef or kitchen leadership experience preferred
Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Culinary degree or formal culinary training is a plus but not required
Compensation
$26.50–$28.50 per hour, based on experience
Performance-based sign-on bonus after 90 days
