Alpine Golf Course is a well-established 18-hole public course located in Comstock Park, MI. As one of three courses owned by a passionate and forward-thinking ownership group, we are committed to elevating the golf experience and continuously improving our facilities to make Alpine a premier destination for golfers.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Golf Course Superintendent to lead our grounds crew and oversee the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the course. This position works under the Director of Grounds and plays a key role in both daily operations and long-term course enhancement projects.
What You’ll Do
Lead, train, and manage the grounds crew to maintain high course standards
Oversee daily maintenance of turf, greens, bunkers, and surrounding grounds
Ensure safe, efficient operations and proper use of equipment
Monitor course conditions and implement agronomic best practices
Assist with planning and executing course improvement and restoration projects
Maintain consistent course quality while balancing playability and aesthetics
Current & Upcoming Projects
This is an exciting time to join Alpine as we are actively investing in major course upgrades, including:
Restoring and reshaping bunkers to their original design
Improving and expanding cart paths
Installing a new halfway house with full restroom facilities
Redesigning approximately 150 yards of the 18th hole, including the green surround
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience beyond routine maintenance and be directly involved in meaningful course development projects.
Required Qualifications
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Leadership experience or ability to manage a team effectively
Knowledge of golf course maintenance and turf management practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
Passion for golf course excellence and continuous improvement
Must have valid Michigan pesticide license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Turf degree or certificate is a plus but not required
Knowledge of irrigation systems, repair and diagnotics
Ability to relate to patrons in a respectable and courteous manner
