Role Description The Golf Course Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance and turf care. This position manages daily operations including mowing, fertilization, irrigation scheduling, pest control, and landscape upkeep to ensure optimal playing conditions. The Superintendent supervises and trains grounds staff, coordinates maintenance schedules around play, and monitors equipment use and safety. The role includes budget management for maintenance activities, vendor coordination, and compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The Superintendent collaborates closely with club management to support tournaments, special events, and overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Turf Management and Golf Course Management, with experience maintaining high-quality playing surfaces.Hands-on experience with Irrigation systems, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and water conservation practices.Skills in Landscape Maintenance, including plant care, pruning, and aesthetic course presentation.Understanding of Pesticide application, safety protocols, and compliance with local and state regulations.Leadership experience supervising grounds crews, scheduling work, and promoting a safe work environment.Ability to interpret agronomic data, weather conditions, and soil reports to guide maintenance decisions.Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff, management, and vendors.Relevant certification or degree in turfgrass science, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by course operations.
