About the Role
Overview: Cress Creek Country Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Grounds Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and management of our prestigious golf course. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, landscape maintenance, and a passion for delivering exceptional playing conditions that meet and exceed member expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Turfgrass Management:
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in development and implementing comprehensive turf management programs.
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in overseeing mowing, fertilization, aeration, and weed control for optimal playing conditions.
Irrigation System Management:
• Monitor and maintain the irrigation system for efficient water distribution.
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in scheduling irrigation cycles, adjusting sprinkler heads, and addressing system malfunctions promptly.
Pest and Disease Control:
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
• Conduct regular inspections, apply treatments, and maintain detailed records.
Landscape Maintenance:
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in overseeing landscape care, including trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
• Ensure proper pruning, planting, and overall landscape design for visual appeal.
Equipment and Budget Management:
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in managing maintenance and repairs of equipment.
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent with developing and managing the budget for equipment purchases and maintenance.
• Ability and knowledge to drive tractors, skid loaders, trucks, etc. as necessary.
Environmental Stewardship:
• Promote sustainable practices for water conservation and habitat preservation.
• Ensure responsible chemical use to minimize environmental impact.
Staff Management and Training:
• Lead and manage groundskeepers and maintenance staff.
• Provide guidance, training, and supervision for efficient and high-quality work.
Course Improvement and Renovation:
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent by participating in long-term planning for course improvement projects.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Stay up to date on industry guidelines and adjust practices accordingly.
Communication and Membership Relations:
• Maintain effective communication with Golf Course Superintendent, members, club management, and golf professionals.
• Address concerns or feedback, provide updates on course conditions, and collaborate with membership to enhance the golfing experience.
