<p><strong>Golf Course Manager</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>This position is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of the Comanche Trail Golf Course and Pro Shop.</p>

<p> </p>
<p><strong>Major Duties, Functions and Responsibilities;</strong></p>
<p>• Oversees turf maintenance of greens, roughs, fairways, and surrounding landscaping to conform to U.S. Golf Association Standards.</p>
<p>• Plans and implements cultivation programs and disease, insect, and weed control programs to ensure optimal playing surfaces under a wide variety of conditions.</p>
<p>• Designs and maintains the landscaping of the acreage surrounding the greens, fairways, and roughs.</p>
<p>• Assists in the design of modifications to golf greens and fairways.</p>
<p>• Provides technical expertise such as reviewing test results of soil and turf samples, directing the application of fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide, and dealing with weather-related problems such as heat, floods, windstorms, and freezes.</p>
<p>• Operates and maintains computerized irrigation system.</p>
<p>• Maintains detailed records and reports of turf maintenance activities.</p>
<p>• Monitors and administers the annual operating budget to ensure expenses remain within budget allocations.</p>
<p>• Develops employee work schedules and assigns duties to staff; trains, evaluates, and disciplines employees as needed.</p>
<p>• Determines and purchases all necessary chemicals and supplies and maintains purchasing records.</p>
<p>• Initiates and/or approves requisitions, work orders, and schedules to ensure proper coordination of activities.</p>
<p>• Manages tournaments and outings for groups, manages scheduled tee times, and maintains golf cart fleet.</p>
<p>• Communicates with golfers, golf associations, vendors, and other interested parties to ensure turf management is coordinated with tournaments and other activities.</p>
<p>• Promotes the Comanche Trail Golf Course; invites professional golfers, golf superintendents, and amateurs to play on the course and in local tournaments.</p>
<p>• Participates in long-range planning events.</p>
<p>• Establishes and enforces safety rules for employees and for golfers while on golf course property.</p>
<p>• Writes specifications and provides technical assistance in the purchase of necessary equipment.</p>
<p>• May be on call after hours to respond to emergency situations.</p>
<p>• Performs other duties as assigned.</p>

<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications </strong></p>
<p>• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in horticulture, golf course management, recreation services, business administration, public administration or related field.</p>
<p>• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in golf course management, including two (2) years of managing both golf course and Pro Shop simultaneously with some supervisory responsibility.</p>
<p>• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.</p>
<p>• Possession of or ability to readily obtain applicable state pesticide applicator license within twelve (12) months.</p>
<p>• A credit check will be conducted on all applicants under final consideration for this position.</p>

<p><strong>Supplemental</strong></p>
<p>• Knowledge of agronomic and horticultural practices.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to proper use and handling of various chemicals.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of city, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.</p>
<p>• Skill in operating tools and equipment such as mowers, dump truck, backhoe/loader, utility vehicle, spray rig, fertilizer spreaders, and seeders.</p>
<p>• Skill in planning and organization.</p>
<p>• Skill in operating standard office equipment including a computer and standard business application software, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine.</p>
<p>• Skill in performing mathematical calculations.</p>
<p>• Skill in interpersonal relations.</p>
<p>• Skills in oral and written communication.</p>
<p>• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city departments and the public.</p>
